Chuir Amy, ár nOifigeach Gaeilge, cúpla imeacht ar siúl chun ár dtionscadail a chur chun cinn. Léiríodh an-suim san obair atá ar siúl againn, go háirithe leis an tionscadal WikiWomen.

Bhí cúpla Edit-a-thons ar siúl le linn Sheachtain na Gaeilge – bhí cuid acu seo ag dul thar fóir le feachtais eile a bhí ar siúl ag an am céanna. Chomh maith lenár n-imeachtaí féin, reáchtáil an Phríomh-Oifig Staidrimh Eagaratón mar chuid dá gclár Sheachtain na Gaeilge.

Our Irish Language Officer, Amy, put on a few events to promote our projects. There was great interest shown in the work that we’re doing, particularly with the WikiWomen project.

There were a few Edit-a-thons running during Seachtain na Gaeilge  – some of these overlapped with other campaigns that were running at the same time. In addition to our own events, the CSO also ran an Edit-a-thon as part of their Seachtain na Gaeilge Programme.

Imeacht i bPort Láirge & Eagaratón/ International Women’s Day Event in Waterford and Edit-a-thon

Ar Lá Idirnáisiúnta na mBan ar an 8 Márta d’fhreastail Amy ar chomhdháil i gCathair Phort Láirge a dhírigh ar an olléagsúlacht agus ar an gcuimsiú. Bhí tábla faisnéise aici inar chuir sí na tionscadail a bhfuilimid ag obair orthu chun cinn. Bhí go leor suime sa tionscadal WikiWomen agus, i gcoitinne, ár gcuid oibre i bPobal Éireann Wikimedia.

On International Women’s Day on March 8th Amy attended a conference in Waterford City that was focused on diversity and inclusion. She had an information table where she promoted the projects we are working on. There was a lot of interest in the WikiWomen project and in the work of Wikimedia Community Ireland in general.

Níos déanaí an tráthnóna sin reáchtáladh Eagaratón breise do Lá Idirnáisiúnta na mBan ar líne. Míle buíochas le gach éinne a d’fhreastail agus a chuir leis!

Bíonn Amy ag reachtáil Eagaratón go míosúil ar Zoom, ar an Déardaoin deireanach de gach mí chun spás a thabhairt do dhaoine Vicí a gcuid Gaeilge a úsáid agus chun dul chuig Eagaratón trí Ghaeilge.

Later that evening there was an extra Edit-a-thon for International Women’s Day held online. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed!

Amy has been holding monthly Edit-a-thons, on the last Thursday of each month to give Wikimedians space to use their Irish and attend a live Edit-a-thon in Irish.

Seisiúin Eolas/ Information Sessions

Reáchtáladh trí sheisiún eolais le linn an dara seachtain de Sheachtain na Gaeilge.

Ar an 13ú Márta chuaigh Amy agus Sophie go Baile Átha Cliath le haghaidh ócáide san ionad Ealaíon RuaRed i gcomhar leis an Ionad ADAPT (DCU) agus saothar an Dr Simon Mille. Léiríodh an-suim ag daoine a tháinig isteach agus tá tuilleadh comhoibrithe beartaithe amach anseo leis an Dr Mille agus a chomhghleacaithe.

Ar an 14ú Márta bhí Amy thíos i nDún Garbhán, in Iarthar Phort Láirge, ag tabhairt seisiún eolais eile sa leabharlann. Bhuail sí le Máire, an tOifigeach Gaeilge ó Chomhairle Cathrach agus Contae Phort Láirge, agus le Bróna, atá ina hOifigeach Pleanála Teanga do Ghaeltacht na nDéise. Tá go leor suime ó dhaoine i mbun obair Wikimedia in Éirinn (agus trí Ghaeilge) agus táimid ag súil le bheith ag obair leo níos mó amach anseo.

There were three information sessions organised during the second week of Seachtain na Gaeilge.

On March 13th Amy and Sophie went to Dublin for an event in the RuaRed Arts centre in collaboration with the ADAPT Centre (DCU) and Dr Simon Mille’s work. There was great interest shown in the people who turned up and more collaborations are planned in the future with Dr Mille and his colleagues.

On the 14th of March Amy was down in Dungarvan, in West Waterford, giving another information session in the library. She met with Máire, the Irish Language Officer from Waterford City and County Council, and also Bróna, who is the Language Planning Officer for Gaeltacht na nDéise. There is a lot of interest from people in engaging with Wikimedia’s work in Ireland (and through Irish) and we are looking forward to working with them more in the future.

Bhí seisiún faisnéise amháin eile i Lárleabharlann Phort Láirge Dé hAoine 15ú Márta sa Lárleabharlann i bPort Láirge. Tá an-suim ag na seirbhísí leabharlainne i bPort Láirge in obair Wikimedia in Éirinn agus tá suim acu tuilleadh comhoibrithe a dhéanamh amach anseo.

Is iontach an scéal é seo dúinn agus beidh nasc láidir le bheith againn, go háirithe leis an gComhdháil Celtic Knot a bheidh ar siúl i mí Mheán Fómhair a bheidh ar siúl i bPort Láirge.

One more information session was held in Waterford Central library on Friday 15th March in the Central Library in Waterford. The library services in Waterford are very interested in Wikimedia’s work in Ireland and are interested in doing more collaboration in the future.

This is great news for us and will be a strong connection to have, especially with the Celtic Knot Conference upcoming in September which will be held in Waterford.

Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge an-mhaith againn agus táimid ag tnúth le tuilleadh imeachtaí agus comhoibrithe agus muid ag dul ar aghaidh lenár gcuid oibre.

We had a very good Seachtain na Gaeilge and are looking forward to more events and collaborations as we move forward with our work.
