Wikimedia Community Ireland, is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation. We are delighted to announce that we are expanding our team!

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as a part-time, remote Administrative Assistant. This role is pivotal in our mission to promote the creation and dissemination of free knowledge, specifically focusing on Ireland’s rich culture, education, and historical contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to our program activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and engage in bookkeeping tasks.
  • Assist in organizing a diverse range of events and managing a team of dedicated volunteers.
  • Prepare program reports, including monitoring and evaluating based on provided data.


  • Professional communications experience, with the ability to motivate volunteers working remotely
  • Minimum two years experience in organising a wide range of events
  • Previous experience of working effectively with a team of volunteers
  • Experience of working in a charitable or not-for-profit environment (desirable)
  • Track record in administration in financial records keeping in small not-for-profit organisations
  • Experience of programme reporting, including monitoring and evaluating based on provided data
  • Experience in providing administrative and logistical support to programme activities of an organisation
  • Experience in communicating effectively, including writing skills
  • Experience in bookkeeping, using spreadsheets and managing financial information with a high degree of accuracy
  • Experience in working effectively within an office environment, using initiative and prioritising own workload

Skills and Abilities:

  • Passionate about the aims and values of Wikimedia Community Ireland User Group. An understanding of the culture and policies of Wikimedia communities
  • Ability to communicate on-line in a manner which complies with the culture and policies of Wikimedia and adherence to Intellectual Property laws
  • The energy to support the team in growing an organisation from its earliest stages; vision, innovation, and strategic thinking
  • Excellent software skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, internet procedures, and database applications.
  • An understanding of internet technologies, in particular Wikimedia projects
  • Flexible approach, with the capability to be a team player in a dynamic and changing environment, and identify and manage opportunities and risk
  • Understanding of working with and managing volunteers; the ability to learn quickly and integrate within the Wikimedia community
  • Logical, clear thinking, diplomatic and patient approach
  • Ability to work flexible hours and locations as required. Willingness to undertake training as required
  • Good time management skills and self-directed work ethic
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
