We are excited to announce that 50% student discount tickets are now available via Eventbrite for the Celtic Knot Wikimedia Languages Conference, which will be held in Waterford City from Wednesday, 25 September to Friday, 27 September 2024.

This conference offers a unique opportunity for students to delve into the role of Wikimedia and digital citizenship in the preservation and promotion of Celtic and minority languages. Attendees can look forward to a variety of insightful talks, workshops, and networking opportunities with experts, Wikimedians, and academics in the field.

Wiki Women Erasmus+ Launch at Celtic Knot

The 2024 Celtic Knot Conference will also see the launch of the WikiWomen Erasmus + Project Toolkits. The project is an ongoing collaborative effort between Irish, Frisian, and Basque Partners. The goal of WikiWomen is to highlight the gender gap in content and empower students in minority language communities (Gaeltacht regions, Basque, Friesland) to write Wikipedia articles about underrepresented women in their languages. This addresses the gender imbalance on Wikipedia in terms of representation.

The conference will see the launch of the project’s toolkits which will provide educators, students, and GLAMS (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums) with free resources to engage with work on their regional language Wikis. They are designed to be translated and used widely by Wikimedians, Educators and GLAMs professionals alike.

Visit Wikiwomen.eu to learn more about the project.
