Wikimedia Community Ireland has grown significantly since our founding, and today we’re proud to have a dedicated team working to promote open knowledge and the Irish language across the island. Our small but mighty team brings together expertise in cultural heritage, technology, community organising, research, and linguistic diversity.
We work alongside an incredible community of volunteer Wikimedians, editors, photographers, and open knowledge enthusiasts who are the true heart of our movement.

Shannon Eichelberger

Shannon is a founding member of Wikimedia Community Ireland and has been instrumental in shaping the organisation from its earliest days. Holding an MA in Modern Irish History, she brings deep expertise in cultural heritage to her work building bridges between heritage institutions and Wikipedia.
As an accredited Wikimedia trainer, Shannon has trained countless individuals and groups in how to contribute to Wikipedia effectively. She has been one of the driving forces behind WCI’s outreach to museums, libraries, archives, and galleries across Ireland, advocating for open access and collaborative knowledge sharing.
Shannon is passionate about promoting Wikipedia as an educational tool and has pioneered initiatives to bring Wikipedia editing into Irish classrooms.

Eugene Eichelberger

Eugene is a founding member of Wikimedia Community Ireland and serves as Vice Chair. As a senior technologist and technical information manager, he brings invaluable expertise in enterprise information systems, e-commerce, and internet services to the organisation.
Beyond his technical expertise, Eugene is deeply committed to civic causes including public education, the constructive use of artificial intelligence, open data advocacy, and policy reform. He is an active community member who regularly volunteers his time for youth and adult technology education initiatives, helping to bridge the digital divide and empower people through technology skills.
Eugene’s technical leadership has been essential in supporting WCI’s digital infrastructure and strategic technology decisions.

Amy O’Riordan / Amy Uí Riordáin

Amy joined Wikimedia Community Ireland in July 2023 as the organisation’s first Irish Language Officer and transitioned to the role of Community Manager in January 2026. She has been at the heart of WCI’s local growth, with specialised focus on developing the Irish language presence through our Strategic Plan 2025-30), nurturing the Vicipéid (Irish Wikipedia) community, and building sustainable digital infrastructure for the Irish language.
With an MA in Regional Irish History focusing on women and folklore from the 19th century, a Higher Diploma in Applied Psychology and a BA in French and Irish, Amy brings a unique perspective bridging academic research with practical community building. Her work highlights minority language communities within the global Wikimedia open knowledge infrastructure.
Thosaigh Amy e Pobal Wikimedia na hÉireann i mí Iúil 2023 mar an chéad Oifigeach Gaeilge agus d’aistrigh sí go ról an Bhainisteora Pobail i mí Eanáir 2026. Is í croílár fhás áitiúil WCI, le fócas speisialaithe ar phobal Vicipéid a chothú agus bonneagar digiteach inbhuanaithe a thógáil don Ghaeilge.
