Feminism and Folklore is an international Wikipedia writing competition that began in 2019 as part of Wiki Loves Folklore.
It runs throughout February and March 2025, and its aim will be to document traditional cultures and women in folklore from different regions around the world on Wikipedia. A local national competition will be held in Ireland alongside the Wiki Loves Folklore photo contest (More info here).

the Irish version on Vicipéid: Feimineachas agus Béaloideas 2025
This is a local Irish version of the writing competition that encourages editors to write in Irish on themes of feminism and folklore, whether in Ireland or elsewhere in the world. Editors can create new articles, improve existing articles, or translate articles from other languages into Irish.
Articles must be relevant to the theme, including but not limited to festivals, material culture, dances, cooking, clothing, or daily life, with an emphasis on traditional culture in the area in question. Intangible cultural heritage has different meanings for different groups, so the focus is on improving the content of the articles, fostering intercultural dialogue, and encouraging people to look at other ways of life on a basis of mutual respect.

Once described as being like “a lovely loaf of fresh baked bread served at a satanic orgy” Fáin is an oral storyteller with a multidisciplinary background who loves to discuss the bizarre, the subversive and the deviant while creating an atmosphere of comfort, safety and comradery. Fáin studied Irish Folklore at UCD, laboured in the story mines of The National Leprechaun Museum, and has produced various multi-media projects including podcasts, audio-dramas, Alternative Reality Games and video essays. Often involving weird little puppets.
