Hello friends,

May was a quieter month for the team – meetings, planning, and preparation for a full programme in June. Here is a summary of what is under way.

Global Education Time

Amy met with teachers on the Global Education Time programme to plan a collaboration. Wikipedia editing training with those teachers is scheduled to begin in September.

Wiki Loves Earth 2026

A Vicipéid editing project is running as part of Wiki Loves Earth 2026, alongside a photo competition open across Ireland and Northern Ireland. If you have photos of natural places in Ireland, you are welcome to upload them to Wikimedia Commons.

Future for Thatch 2026

In partnership with CITB NI and with support from Wikimedia UK, the Wiki Loves: A Future for Thatch photography competition opened on 22 May. The competition focuses on thatched buildings across the island of Ireland.

Wiki Loves Pride 2026

Several events are coming in June.

On 18 June, WCI will take part in Comhdháil Aiteach 2026 at UCD Dublin, alongside Aerach Aiteach Gaelach.

On 19 June, an event is taking place in partnership with the National Library of Ireland and IQA in Dublin.

The call for submissions to the Queering Wikipedia conference is open until 30 June.

Community meeting

The WCI community meeting is on tonight, Tuesday 26 May at 6pm. All are welcome.
