Wiki Loves Earth photo competition returned to Ireland for 2023 from 1 June – 31 July.

See the 2023 winners here!

The competition calls on participants to take pictures of protected areas of natural beauty, such as National Parks, Nature Reserves, Ramsar Sites, and Special Areas of Conservation. The competition covers the whole island of Ireland in collaboration with Wikimedia UK, and you can find lists of eligible sites in Leinster, Munster, Ulster and Connacht as well as more details on the Northern Ireland page.

Photos may have been taken at any time. The key criteria to be eligible for the contest are that they are to be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons in June and July 2023 and that they have been taken by you, of course!

The full WLE rules can be read here, but in short:

  • be uploaded using the links in the lists above
  • be described with the location, and co-ordinates if possible
