10 years ago, Ireland said YES.
In May 2015, over 1.2 million people voted to make love equal. With a landslide result, Ireland became the first country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage by popular vote. It was a moment of collective joy and hard-won justice – a turning point shaped by decades of queer resilience, organising, and love.
As we mark this historic anniversary, Wikimedia Community Ireland invites you to help us honour and document queer lives, histories, and communities across Ireland by taking part in Wiki Loves Pride 2025 (Is Breá le Vicí Bród).
What is it?
A photography competition celebrating LGBTQ+ life in Ireland – from Pride marches and protest signs to quiet moments of love, defiance, and joy.
Why does it matter?
Every image uploaded to Wikimedia Commons helps build a more complete, visible, and lasting record of LGBTQ+ lives. It’s about making sure their stories are told, shared, and remembered.
When?
The competition opens on June 1st, 2025. You can enter any time while entries are open.
